She is one of the popular beauty gurus on Youtube today. With her Channel, she is bringing amazing tutorials and sharing her talent with her subscribers. Besides being an amazing and extremely skilled makeup artist, she is also an incredible person that is genuine and hardworking. With her signature eye looks, she truly opens her viewers to what makeup artistry is and makes it easy to do. She was one of the first gurus I met when I was starting my personal beauty blog and channel and I was forever grateful to have met someone that I could truly call a friend if I needed someone to be there. She is fabulous, beautiful and gifted in so many ways. So I want to introduce you to the amazing Jacqueline Frahm otherwise known as: A Brilliant Brunette!

Here is my one on one with the one and only:

Can you first give me a little bio:

CS – Where you were born, what your background is, etc. What you do for a living outside of beauty (if any), etc.

JF – Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, I am 30 years old (31 on July 4th), with a passion for the online beauty world of blogging and Youtube. Outside of beauty I have worked in public education as a library technician, and an elementary school reading instructor. I am also working on earning my Masters degree to aid my path toward making a career out of my passion for the online beauty community.

The girly-girl in me loves clothes, shoes, handbags, and accessories. If it sparkles, I probably love it. I also love to cook and bake. Making cupcakes is my favorite!

CS – Can you please give me a little background of your makeup/beauty history?

JF – I’ve loved makeup ever since I can remember. When I was a little girl I had a purse with a toy lipstick in it that I carried everywhere (until I lost it). I’ve been wearing makeup since I was 12 but my official start was during my Myspace makeup group days. I joined a few groups, met some awesome girls with the same interest as me, and started to hone in on my skills and techniques. Later I started making tutorials on Youtube, and that led me to start my beauty blog.

I’ve also worked as a consultant at Ulta, a makeup artist at MAC, and am currently doing freelance makeup artistry on my own.

CS – What do you love most about beauty/makeup in general?

JF – That’s a hard one to answer! I just love everything about it…always have. The colors, the products, the artistry…it’s all just so exciting for me.

CS – What led you to make Youtube videos and start a channel?

JF – I never ever had the intention of making Youtube videos, but when people online started to like my work, they asked me to make tutorials. When I started, I couldn’t stop. It’s so fun!

CS – How difficult is it to find the time for everything (blogging, filming, creating looks)

JF – With everything going on outside of what I do online, finding time to blog, create unique looks, and put together tutorials can definitely be a challenge sometimes. For me though, it works to designate a day or two to blogging and making tutorials. Everything I can do on those days is what I post when I’m not able to blog and vlog. It’s all about time management.

CS – What are your top three budget/ high end makeup brands?

JF – My top 3 budget brands are wet n wild, Milani, and Revlon. My top 3 high-end brands are MAC, Too Faced, and Senna Cosmetics.

CS – What are your favorite beauty products for the upcoming spring and summer months.

JF – I love, love, LOVE the Too Faced Summer Eyes palette! I also love Bare Escentuals Faux Tan Sunless Tanner. It’s been my favorite tanner for years now; my must-have to make my legs match the rest of me.

CS – What is your favorite season for beauty? (In terms of color ranges, etc. )

JF – I adore fall and winter. The warm colors, jeweltones, and metallics that come with the holiday season are stunning. Plus, I love the added drama that comes with fall and winter makeup looks.

CS – Do you have a mentor that inspired you to do makeup artistry?

JF – They’re not necessarily mentors that inspired me to do artistry but there are so many talented artists that are constant inspirations. A few are NikkieTutorials, Chaos Makeup Artist, and Carolina Rufat. They’re such amazing talents.

CS- Was there anything other than makeup that you wanted to study when growing up?

JF – Growing up I actually wanted to be a teacher or a doctor. I didn’t want to study makeup…I just wanted to play with it.

CS – Are you a Curvy fashionista as well? If so, what are your fav clothing brands, etc.

JF – I am a Curvy fashionista! I love clothes, shoes, handbags, jewelry, everything. I love shopping at Torrid and Macy’s but I’m also a bargain hunter and like to hit discount stores like Ross and Marshall’s, too. My favorite plus brands are those sold at Torrid (their Retro Chic line is adorable and and I love Z. Cavaricci), and INC.

CS – What kind of music, hobbies do you like?

JF – I’m a huge music fan in general. I can listen to nearly anything. However I’ll forever be a classic rock fan. Aerosmith is my favorite. As far as hobbies go, it’s all about makeup, and blogging!

CS – What are your tips/must haves for warmer weather makeup?

JF – I’m not one to ever suggest wearing less makeup during the summer. I love wearing makeup and I wear it all year long. Instead of lessening the products I wear, I say that investing in some long-lasting products is key. Milani Shadow Eyez Eyeshadow Pencils are awesome, as are the Bulletproof products from Mally Beauty. Her long-lasting products are insane. Once they’re on, they’re on.

CS – f you were trapped on a desert island, what are the five products you couldn’t live without?

Number one…sunscreen!

JF – A definite must-have! I’d also need my favorites: Senna Brow Shaper Duo and an angled brush to apply it with, Benefit Waterproof Bad Gal Mascara, and a Milani Glitzy Glamour Gloss.

CS – Is there anything you would like to share with our Curvy readers?

JF – Don’t let the opinions of others shape who you are. If you’re happy with yourself, then let that be known.  You are who you are. Embody that and just be you!

I was so excited to get to know Jacqueline and I am sure you are too.  For more information on her, check out her channel and pages below:
