Curvy Cutie: Crystal Mullins
Meet Crystal Mullins, a 22-year-old CURVY Cutie from Detroit Michigan.
Crystal’s Story
I want to be an inspiration to curvy girls everywhere. I’ve struggled with my weight all my life. I’ve been “overweight” even though I was a varsity cheerleader in high school and played many years of softball. I always had self-esteem issues even though my pride would not let me show my insecurities to anyone. I was crying inside. I’ve always been the big girl with a pretty face. I would smile and say thank you when people would come up to me and say,”you have such a pretty face” but in my mind I was screaming why can’t you just say I’m beautiful, all of me not just my face.

“My weight held me back and over the years my insecurities started to show more and more and I gained a lot of weight. Tipping the scale at almost 370 pounds I decided to make the change. I worked out everyday and I ate right and after losing almost 100 pounds I now have my confidence back.”
I was casted for Walk fashion show Lansing April of 2013 and the feedback I received was absolutely breathtaking. I had woman of all shapes come up to me and say what an inspiration I was. It brought tears to my eyes. Hearing the crowd roar as I stepped out on that runway praying that I wouldn’t fall in my 5 inch heels I strutted my stuff like I was the most beautiful person in the world. Now I’m part of the Curvy Revolution.
I love my curves because they make me feel powerful and sexy. My curves make me feel beautiful and remind me how hard I’ve worked to get where I am today. Some might say that I’m “fat” or overweight but I now have enough self-esteem to smile and say “No, I’m curvy and if you can’t handle that well then I’m to much of a woman for you.”
