Attention Curvy fashionistas! Have you ever purchased a pair of the most perfect fitting pants and thought to yourself “I need more of these!” or even thought “It’s about time!” Well I know that I have, until one day I was in Chicago O’Hara Airport and a gorgeous young lady about my height (6 feet even) approached me and asked me a few questions. “Hello, how are you? How tall are you? Do you have a problem finding clothing for your height? My name is Lameka Weeks and I am in the process of developing my clothing line called “Height Goddess”. Then she handed me her business card. I read over the card and once a month I would visit her website until the items were available. I usually do not stalk people or companies but the idea of ordering great quality items in my height; well let’s just say I couldn’t stop thinking about Height Goddess. The HG site launched with sizes all the way up to a size 20. I immediately  ordered my first pair and the only thing that came to mind upon putting them on was “PERFECT!” Curvy comes in all shapes, sizes and heights and some of the beautiful points about Height Goddess is that they realize that! So who is the designer and conceptualizer behind the brand? Lameka Weeks, let’s find out a little more about her:

DR.K: Tell me a little about yourself. Where are you from?
LW: I grew up in Alabama, but have been in Dallas for about 10 years now and love it!

DR.K: What does fashion mean to you?
LW: Oh wow it really depends on the day and mood, lol. But fashion to me means self expression, being confident and comfortable within yourself.

DR.K: How would you define your city’s fashion?
LW: Anything goes in Dallas. Prepsters to funky fashionistas to laid back casual.

DR.K: When did you realize you wanted to become a fashion designer?
LW: Well actually, I don’t call myself a designer nor pretend to be one out of respect to those who truly are designers. I’m a tall woman who couldn’t find clothes to fit me so I decided to create a clothing line with the clothing I’d like to have in my closet. However, I realized in high school I wanted to do something with fashion related to tall women I just didn’t know in what capacity it would be.

DR.K: How does designing clothing for Height Goddess differ from designing regular sized clothes?
LW: Most companies that make or retail what they call “tall clothing” have only lengthened the garment…well it takes more than that. All of HEIGHT GODDESS clothing is proportioned and are fitted on a tall fit model. This means I just didn’t add pant length and sleeve length and call it a garment made for tall women.

DR.K: Describe the general process you go through to design and realize a design.
LW: I always have ideas in my head… I will get with the 2 designers I work with and give them my ideas and sketch it out to see if it fits the overall goal, then we begin working on a 1st sample, perfect the fit, then put it out there to see if people like it. As a small company it is difficult to make big inventory commitments without fully knowing if the customer will absolutely love the designs as much as I do! With that in mind, I created “Be the Buyer.” Be the Buyer allows the customers to become a virtual member of the HG fashion team and share with me the designs they’d like to see HG offer. As a virtual buyer they will view potential designs and have the opportunity to vote on their favorite(s) by simply clicking the “Want It” button. Their vote tells me that they feel strong enough about a design and would like for it to be a part of the HEIGHT GODDESS line.

DR.K: What are some of your accomplishments as a designer?
LW: I’m enjoying the journey! I’m amazed everyday to see my dream come to life. When I receive emails from women telling me how they love the clothing or how it makes them feel it gives me chills and lets me know I’m on the right road. I’m excited for the future of HG!!!

DR.K: Who are some of your favorite designers?
LW: I have admired many but unfortunately couldn’t wear their clothes. Norma Kamali, Marc Jacobs, Diane Von Furstenberg, Michael Kors are a few of my favs.

DR.K: Where can readers buy your clothing?
LW: At and select boutiques ( If customers have a boutique they would like to tell us about? Email info@heightgoddess.comm with the name and location of the boutique and we will contact the boutique about carrying the HG line.

DR.K: How would you define your personal style?
LW: I tend stick to the classics in tailored shapes and cuts—I would definitely say I gravitate towards more elegant looks, and add color and interest with really cute shoes and great jewelry and accessories!

DR.K: What are some of your fashion goals?
LW: To offer tall women what they want and, more important, need—I really listen to the feedback and suggestions of my customers. The tall market is very much a niche market—and I’m careful to offer a product that is timeless while still being on-trend, and choose to focus on quality and fit in my designs.

DR.K: What do you believe makes quality clothing?
LW: It’s a number of things but great fabric is at the top of the list.

DR.K: What matters to you most as a fashion designer?
LW: Fit and style, which is what the market of clothing for tall women has historically lacked.

DR.K: What’s your favorite part about conceptualizing a design?
LW: I like the entire process, seeing what I envisioned come to life it an awesome experience!
