Q:Who are some of your favorite designers?

A:Oh! There are too many plus size indie designers I love love love!  One is Theary Sim out of ATL and although I don’t fit in her clothes Tracy Resse’s clothing is just the feminine elegance I love.

Q:When did you realize you wanted to become a fashion designer?

A:I always had the eye and knew it would lead to a career in the image industry. I started drawing and designing in high school but didn’t sew until my 1st class in college!

Q:What was the first article of clothing you ever designed?

A: I designed both of my prom dresses, but I have been redesigning and recycling clothes since about 7.

Q: Describe the general process you go through to design a piece of clothing?

A:The first step to creating a custom HelloDeeva garment(s) is the consultation where we will discuss date and event the garment will be designed for, fabrics, cost, etc.  I’m a one women show of Deevaliciousness designing & drawing garment(s), purchasing fabrics, patternmaking, draping, sewing, and arranging fittings. Clients are able to start the custom process, purchase samples, and or accessories at  .What have been some of your accomplishments as a designer?  My biggest accomplishments as a designer may sound silly but it’s remaining a designer. Other than a part time job here or there, I primarily design so staying on path, purpose, and satisfying my clients are big for me .

Q: What do you believe makes a quality piece of clothing?

A: Proportions. In all designs be it buildings or bodies great proportions creates a harmony to the eyes and in turn beauty.  Designers that take into account proportions and fit usually make quality pieces.

Q: What matters to you most as a fashion designer?

A: Growth both in business and life matters most to me, so I work to increase the quality of my being which reflects to my fashions.

Q:What advice do you have for aspiring fashion designers?

A: Design on! Take your craft as serious as you want people to take you. This is a business as well as an art so you should continually train and grow to insure all your work expresses your thought and feelings. What are some of your fashion goals?   I’m re-energized to keep pursuing her dream as an entrepreneur and motivated to make HelloDeeva a household name and reputable business. To get there involves goals of expanding the company with manufactured fashions, creating brand awareness & web presence, and becoming legally sound.  It’s equally important to growing the local artistic community while making a notable impact in the fashion industry.

Q: Where do you get your inspiration?

A: Pulling from the 70s, my custom feminine garments with urban flair range from the sparkle of a Disco Queen, earthiness of a Hippie, ethnic pride of forward thinking curvy women, asserting that “Curves Speak Volumes”.   Also art of all forms, fabrics, and women with curves tend to move me to grab my sketch pad and create.
