A Viewer Calls News Anchor Fat, News Anchor Fights Back On Live TV

Jennifer Livingston, a Wisconsin news anchor defended herself on air after a viewer cruelly criticized her weight via email. Read the email

Community responsibility.

Hi Jennifer,

It’s unusual that I see your morning show, but I did so for a very short time today. I was surprised indeed to witness that your physical condition hasn’t improved for many years. Surely you don’t consider yourself a suitable example for this community’s young people, girls in particular. Obesity is one of the worst choices a person can make and one of the most dangerous habits to maintain. I leave you this note hoping that you’ll reconsider your responsibility as a local public personality to present and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Jennifer’s On air response:

This was a heartless form of bulling. Just cruel for no reason! I am glad that Jennifer fought back. She is awesome for taking a stand. Curvy is also taking a stand. Curvy wants to continue on our Mission to Empower, Connect, & Inspire women. Curvy is a women focused publication bridging the gap between myth and reality regarding beauty and body image. Weight is not an indicator of human worth. Weight is also not a behavior; you cannot accurately assume behaviors or health status based on appearance. We encourage you to love yourself. Embrace your curves. Hold you head up high because you are beautiful! We are all unique and that’s what makes us special. Be confident in your curvacious body. Own it! I AM WOMAN, I AM CURVY! TEAM CURVY SALUTES YOU!
