To Shape or Not to Shape

As women we all want to look our best. From hair to nails to what we wear. One way to look your best in clothes is Shapewear. Some shapewear smooths you out and some can make you drop 1 to 2 dress sizes. But with some shapewear costing upwards of $75 to $100 is it worth it.? My answer would be yes and no. For every person it’s different. For those looking to lose a substantial amount of weight buying one of the more expensive shapers may be a good choice. Reason: Some of the more expensive ones are adjustable meaning the more weight you lose, the tighter you can make the support. If you just want something to smooth you out when you wear a certain outfit or dress then looking around for a good deal may be the better option. Another issue with wearing shapers is health. People with blood flow or high blood pressure issues are advised to be careful when choosing a shaper and to not wear it everyday. The one question I get when people come searching for shapewear is “Should I buy a smaller shaper if I want more support?” NO! Please buy your size or look for one with more hold and support. Buying a smaller size can cause panty lines and rolling which makes the fabric start to dig into the skin.

Places you can find good shapewear:

  • Lane Bryant- Spanx starting at $28
  • Ashley Stewart-Assets by Spanx starting at $22
  • One Stop Plus- Various brands starting at $19.99

I hope this was helpful to you all. Love, Hope, and Peace to you all!

  1. These shapewear items are today’s girdles and corsets. Forget it. I’d rather enjoy myself and feel comfortable than to be a size smaller.

  2. also long term and regulkar weasr causes blood clots and deep vein thonbosis, so take care and only wear on special occasions fpr a few hours at a time
