Summer Series: Frozen Strawberry Margaritas

With a collective sigh, we can all agree that winter is behind us. The days are getting longer, the temperatures are getting warmer and the desire to kick around in flip flops and a favorite pair of shorts, while spending the weekends in complete relaxation mode, is reaching its peak.

The hustle and bustle of summer is a welcome change of pace, and while I like BBQs and pool parties and picnics just as much as the next girl, my favorite way to pass an evening is relaxing outside with a good cocktail, juicy gossip and the sort of conversations that could last until dawn.

It seems that my favorite summer cocktails involve the blender, which is fine with me because there’s nothing like an icy cold drink to fend off the heat. My current favorite takes full advantage of the bounty of summer strawberries—they’re chock full of antioxidants—and with fewer than five ingredients and less than five minutes to prepare, this cocktail will keep you in the conversation and in the action.

Frozen Strawberry Margaritas

1 can frozen limeade concentrate
1 can (use the empty limeade can to measure) gold tequila
4 ounces orange liquer, such as Grand Mariner or Cointreau
3 cups fresh strawberries, cleaned, hulled, sliced and frozen
1/2 an orange, squeezed, or 1/2 a lemon squeezed

1. Empty limeade concentrate into a blender.
2. Pour tequila into empty can and fill; add to blender.
3. Add orange liquer, squeezed orange or lemon.
4. Add frozen strawberries.
5. Blend until smooth; serve immediately.
