Hello my Curvy travelers! There are so many fabulous things about taking the perfect vacation: The incredible hotels, spas, the destination, but of course there is also the food! Finding the right place that combines service, elegance and the highest quality in cuisine can be a challenge, but it is possible. With that in mind I want to introduce you to what I consider to be the one of the premiere dining experiences I could highly recommend. I am of course talking about Morton’s The Steakhouse. A truly decadent, fine dining experience unlike any other I have been to. Morton’s The Steakhouse Coral Gables exemplifies class and elegance in an ideal setting. Situated on the historic Miracle Mile in The City Beautiful, Morton’s Coral Gables is surrounded by world-renowned art galleries, boutiques, and international businesses. So before I give you the full scoop on Morton’s, here’s a little history on the restaurant:
How it all began…
Morton’s actually exists today because of…hamburgers! Years ago, before co-founders Arnie Morton and Klaus Fritsch really knew one other, they both worked at the Playboy Club in Montreal. The club was changing the menu, and Klaus cooked a hamburger that was sent out for Arnie to try. Arnie burst into the kitchen, demanding to know “Who cooked that hamburger?”
When Klaus stepped forward, he wasn’t sure if Arnie was going to be pleased or not but was relieved to hear him say that it was the best he’d ever tasted. From that day forward, they called it the “Million-Dollar Hamburger”!
More than 3 decades later…
Morton’s has grown to over 75 restaurants, but the vision is the same today as it was when we opened our first restaurant in Chicago in 1978. Quality. Consistency. Genuine Hospitality.
Driven by the desire to provide genuine hospitality–for our guests and our employees–we offer a setting where people truly care about one another, and show it in everything they do. The high level of respect and enthusiasm that runs through our entire organization is evident in many ways, including the longevity of our staff and managers, some of whom have been with us for decades.
Morton’s achievements are not limited to its four walls of the restaurants. Our culture is one that’s also committed to community service, both locally and nationally.
Based out of one the most fabulous cities in the world; that is Chicago. Morton’s is the leader in providing the most enjoyable dining experience possible. When I first got to the restaurant, I was so fascinated by it’s beautiful décor and classic style. It was very old time Chicago and exuded class and elegance. With the gorgeous cherry wood décor, it takes you away to another decade. It has a gorgeous full service bar that is hugely popular. The restaurant itself is mesmerizing with classic pictures of glamorous Hollywood celebrities and beautiful artwork throughout. This is while Bobby Vinton and Tony Bennett play over the speaker. This is definitely my kind of place. Meeting the staff was truly a wonderful experience and I was overwhelmed by their hospitality. Our server Julio was incredible when giving us a presentation of their selections and menu. He guided us perfectly and gave us the most wonderful recommendations. Every single member of the staff was courteous and helpful to every question I had. Even the chef had passed by and said hello. The menu is a feast for the senses with the perfect blend of seafood, sides and of course amazing meats!
The Oysters Rockefeller were truly phenomenal with a blend of flavors that are captivating. This is true as well for the scallops wrapped in bacon and crab cake. For the main courses, the steaks are unprecedented.
With the perfect cut and cooked to your exact specifications as was described to us by our server. The double cut lamb chops had a taste unlike any other and the seasoning was an experience on its own.
They have amazing salads and sides as well with everything from sautéed button mushrooms to the lyonnaise potatoes. The desserts are legendary with everything from chocolate and raspberry soufflé’s to a decadent classic like carrot and chocolate lava cake.
I can honestly say that the food is nothing less that spectacular with something for everyone. My favorite part of course was the end of the meal when a tray of after dinner liquors was brought to the table. A lovely glass of Baileys made it the perfect end of the meal. One thing that I will definitely remember from my dining experience at Morton’s was from something
the manager, Jose Santiago said to me: “You can get a good steak almost anywhere, but a truly feel good dining experience like the one you get at Morton’s makes all the difference.” I really was impressed by how eloquently he spoke about what
Morton’s had to offer and he was very attentive to all the patrons, making sure they had everything they need.
I can honestly tell you that if you are looking for the ultimate dining experience with a little old world Chicago elegance, check out Morton’s The Steakhouse. You can find out where there is one near you at: www.mortons.com. Have fun my Curvy travelers and enjoy!! Xoxo
