With all of the crazy weather we have been having all over the country, it is difficult to even begin thinking about the spring. As I trudge through the dirty, gray snow, I daydream about peep-toe pumps, flirty skirts and trench coats! Ahhhh I can just taste the light dewy air! As I digress, I will share with you some of the upcoming spring trends for urban women of style.
If you are the kind of fashionista that likes to be seen when you step out of the house, then Spring 2011 is your season! Bold prints derived from ethnic tribal patterns and geometric shapes are dominating the fashion offerings. These prints are being offered in attention grabbing colors to ensure that your outfit is memorable long after you have left the room. Your bold pattern should serve as the focal point of your outfit, but with these pieces, you can definitely crank the fabulosity up a notch – or two!
It seems that stripes resurface about every other year or so and 2011 is definitely the year of the stripe! Vertical, Horizontal, Diagonal, Chevron…..so many stripes, so little time! A classic navy and white stripe pattern will always be chic and can be dressed up or down for the spring. These figure hugging pieces will instantly make your outfit sophisticated and the best thing is that they can flatter any body type! The key is to pair your striped piece with a simple, solid colored companion garment (i.e. – dark rinse jeans, white jeggings, red cardigan, etc.) and minimal jewelry.
Laser cuts! Perforations! Oh my! This season is filled with accessories that have a variety of cut-out patterns. The cut-outs are a great way to ‘lighten’ a heavier fabric such as leather or suede for the spring. The designs add a touch of femininity without compromising the construction of the shoe. A little peek of skin adds a dash of sex appeal to any outfit!
I hope you are inspired by these great trends for the season and will consider supplementing your wardrobe with a few (or all) of them! These items are very affordable and will serve as your staple pieces for 2011.
Happy shopping ladies!
